We now hope to release it in June. It's been a long time in development, but with its many new features, I think the wait will have been worthwhile. There's no other news to report and there's no article, so it's a short newsletter this month. There has been some confusion about support prices of DB/C software. By using the DB/C Online Sales and Update System, you can download both major and minor releases (updates) for those licenses of DB/C software that are currently under support. One year of support is included with the purchase of a DB/C software license. After the initial year of support has expired, you'll need to purchase yearly extensions of support for each license of DB/C software. You will not be able to get bug fix software unless your software license is currently under support. It might be tempting to let a license expire with a plan to subscribe only if you need the update. However, there is a disincentive to doing this. The price for one year of support increases by 5% per month starting in the second month after support has expired. We've recently removed the limit of 20 months of increasing price. And beginning in January 2002, the 5% monthly increase for expired support will be changed to 10% per month, retroactive. We've not talked about the Java programming language recently in this space. I'll be attending the JavaOne conference in San Francisco the first week in June, so next month I'll report on my observations as to how Java is maturing and its effect on the DB/C language. don.wills@dbcsoftware.com ****************************************************************************** DB/C Class Schedule Class: DB/C DX and JX Language Fundamentals Date: September, 2001 Location: Oak Brook, Illinois For information, send email to admin@dbcsoftware.com. ****************************************************************************** Subscribing to the DB/C Newsletter If you don't already have the DB/C Newsletter delivered to your email address and would like to have it emailed to you monthly, just send an email message to 'dbcnews-subscribe@dbcsoftware.com'.
