************************************* * * * DB/C Newsletter * * July 2006 * * * ************************************* News and Comments Eclipse 3.2 was released this month. Along with many new features, this release has another interesting aspect - the release is coordinated with new releases of the software of ten other Eclipse projects. These projects include SQL tools, web development tools, business intelligence reporting tools, Java tools, C/C++ tools and more. And DB/C DX 14.0 DDT appears to work fine with Eclipse 3.2. Windows Vista is turning into a black hole for Microsoft. Various reports now have it being released in the first half of 2007, the second half of 2007, or "when it's ready". Our experience with beta test releases of .NET Framework 3.0, which is an integral part of Vista, is not good. It appears that API changes are still being made that provide necessary functionality. As we've said in the past, DB/C DX and DB/C FS will be tested and working on Windows Vista soon after it is released, whenever that me be. We continue to work on new features in DB/C DX 15. I like the phrase "when it's ready" to describe when we will release DB/C DX 15. There is no article this month. If anyone has ideas for topics for future articles, they would be greatly appreciated.
