************************************* * * * DB/C Newsletter * * May 2006 * * * ************************************* News and Comments The release date of Windows Vista continues to be pushed back. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, is now indicating that the operating system may not be released until a year from now. The manager of the project has been replaced and there are reports that the latest publicly released test version of the software is quite buggy. As I wrote about in February, some of the more significant changes planned for Vista have been dropped, so there is a good chance that existing DB/C software should be compatible without any changes. When Vista is finally released we'll give it a thorough shake down and report back to you. We have begun work on DB/C DX 15, which we expect to release early next year. If there are particular features that you would like to see included in the new release, please contact us. There is no article this month. I had hoped to report about an exciting new tool for building AJAX web apps. That tool is the Google Web Toolkit - GWT. Unfortunately, I've not gotten far enough into the testing of GWT to have formed an opinion about it. I'll report on my findings next month. If any of you have worked with GWT, I would like to hear your opinions about it so that I can provide a more comprehensive article next month. don.wills@dbcsoftware.com ****************************************************************************** DB/C DX Class Schedule Class: DB/C DX Fundamentals Date: June, 2006 Location: Woodridge, Illinois For information, send email to admin@dbcsoftware.com. ****************************************************************************** Subscribing to the DB/C Newsletter If you don't already have the DB/C Newsletter delivered to your email address and would like to have it emailed to you monthly, just send an email message to dbcnews-subscribe@dbcsoftware.com.
