The DB/C Email ListsTwo email lists are available:
The dbctalk email list is a forum for people to communicate with others who have an interest in DB/C DX and DB/C FS software. It is generally a technical discussions email list, but non-technical, non-commercial discussions are also completely acceptable. dbctalk is a community of individuals with a wide range of interests and competency levels. Most of the active participants are programmers who use DB/C DX and/or DB/C FS on a daily basis. Although we encourage participation (no question is too simple or too dumb), many subscribers have learned quite a bit without ever posting a message. When you initially subscribe, we recommend that you check out the dbctalk archives to get a feel for what is going on, and to possibly get answers for the questions that you have right now. The dbcmarket email list is a forum for people to communicate about commercial aspects of DB/C DX and DB/C FS. Typical postings are for jobs available, positions wanted, software contractor available or wanted, commercial and shareware software for sale, and other commercially oriented communication. The only requirements are that your postings must be related to DB/C, and that you limit your specific posting frequency to once in any calendar month.

To send an email to everyone on the dbctalk email list, send an email
To send an email to everyone on the dbcmarket email list, send an email When you are subscribed to an email list is FEED mode, you will receive each email that is sent to the email list individually within a minute or so of when the message was originally sent. When you are subscribed to an email list in DIGEST mode, the messages are gathered together and emailed to you in a single email (called a digest). This happens whenever 20 messages are waiting to be sent, or at 1am each day when less than 20 messages are gathered. As both email lists typically have less than 20 messages per day, DIGEST mode generally results in you receiving one email each day. If no messages are posted on a given day, no digest is sent out. Note that because your email address is hidden from general view of the Internet, and because only subscribers are allowed to send emails to the email lists, junk email is not a problem. To switch your dbctalk subscription to DIGEST mode, send an email to 'dbctalk-digest@dbcsoftware.com'. To switch your dbctalk subscription back to FEED mode, send an email to 'dbctalk-feed@dbcsoftware.com'. To switch your dbcmarket subscription to FEED mode, send an email to 'dbcmarket-feed@dbcsoftware.com'. To switch your dbcmarket subscription back to DIGEST mode, send an email to 'dbcmarket-digest@dbcsoftware.com'. When the email list processor receives an email that will be sent out via FEED mode, it will insert "(dbctalk) " or "(dbcmarket) " at the beginning of the Subject: field before the message is sent out to FEED mode subscribers. This makes it easy for you to identify messages that originate from the dbctalk and dbcmarket email lists. The email list processor also provides a way for you to access the archive of the dbctalk and dbcmarket email lists. You must be a subscriber to the respective list. To access the archive, go to this web page: then click on the 'Mailing Lists' link, then click on the 'DB/C Discussions' or 'DB/C Marketplace' link. You will be prompted for a User ID and Password. Your User ID is the full email address with which you are subscribed. Your Password is the 10 digit Confirmation Number that you used to confirm your subscription. If you ever need to get your Confirmation Number again, just send an email to 'dbctalk-confirm@dbcsoftware.com' or 'dbcmarket-confirm@dbcsoftware.com' and the server will send you your Confirmation Number. After entering your User ID and Password, you can peruse the entire email list archive. The volume of messages for dbctalk is typically 10-20 per week. We expect those who post messages to dbctalk will be polite and courteous. Commercial advertising should be directed to the dbcmarket email list, not dbctalk. And please do not post off-topic messages. Those who do not follow thes simple rules will be barred from posting. As dbcmarket is new, the volume of messages is not yet known. DB/C Software Company employees will be monitoring the email lists, but will not be active participants. If you need a question answered by a DB/C Software Company person, send your email to either 'support@dbcsoftware.com' or 'admin@dbcsoftware.com'. Don't be afraid to ask questions and participate in the discussions on the email lists. As a way of introducing yourself when you make your first post to the dbctalk, we suggest that you note that it is your first posting, and include a short paragraph about your experience and how you are using DB/C software. |
